The Buzău County Student Council is launching a civic mobilization campaign for the second round of the presidential elections on May 18. With only 7% of young people between the ages of 18 and 24 in the first round of the presidential elections, held on May 4, the Buzău County Student Council (CJE) is sounding the alarm and launching an information and awareness campaign aimed at the youngest voters.

The campaign is accompanied by suggestive messages, designed to draw young people's attention to the importance of exercising the right to vote: "If you don't decide... someone else will do it for you!", "When you don't vote, you take an unmotivated absence from the future!", "May 18, 2025 is not just a Sunday, it's the day we all choose!". According to the CJE, the texts are adapted to the realities of young people and try to create an association between school and civic responsibility, an unprecedented approach for such an initiative.

Voting, a civic duty and an act of responsibility

"Not voting means giving up the opportunity to actively contribute to shaping the direction that our country will follow," reads a message sent by the CJE Buzău. The student representatives emphasize that electoral absenteeism must be perceived as an absence from responsibility and the future, not as a neutral gesture. The President of the CJE Buzău, Andrei Cueru, stated that the idea of the campaign came after noticing the lack of involvement in the first round. Although the time was short for mobilization before the initial elections, the young people aimed to recover before the second round. "I think it is a premiere, the impact of the campaign is very high, it was also taken over in the country. We have a very large network of representatives who distribute the campaigns", stated Cueru. The CJE conveys to the young people that the vote is the voice of each person, a chance to participate in shaping the society in which they will live. Through this initiative, the aim is to create an involved and informed generation, which understands that every vote counts.
